This year's Azalea Festival marks 80 years since the festival was founded, making it a Heritage Festival in the eyes of the State of Oregon Heritage Foundation. Included will be an art show, quilt show, a car show; a shrimp feed & pie sale; Airport Day; the "Pioneer Citizen" reception; and more.
Grand Marshall for the parade, will be David Brookings, great-grandson of John E. Brookings president of the Lumber and Box Company, & founder of the city in 1908. David Brookings will be travelling from his home in California, with his family, to attend the festival and preside over the parade. He is also a talented musician, and will be featured in the Azalea Park program after the parade.
